Right, sorry if I'm in the wrong place for this I wasn't really sure where to post!

Basically, I'm trying to get my passport renewed and I need my PPS number. My parents have no idea what or where it is. I'm 16, and when I looked it up online all I got was that it's either on my Health Card, or Tax Documents. I don't have either! I have a VHI and I don't think the number is on that?

Will my school have record of it or what? I need to get this passport business sorted out before Christmas!

    Thanks!

If you are 16 years old, your parents should be claiming children's allowance for you, do they have any documentation in relation to that?

Either of your parents can simply go to your local SW, bringing some ID of their own, such as a drivers licence, a passport, and some proof of address, a utility bill addressed to that parent or a bank statement and to be on the safe side, your birth certificate. Your parent will be then given your PPSN. All the better if you can go along too.

Pick your region from the map on this page (http://www.revenue.ie/en/contact/index.html) and call Revenue in the morning. They should be able to tell you your PPS when you tell them your name, DOB, etc. If not, they'll tell you where you might be able to get it. For security they may have to post it out to you, rather than telling you over the phone.

I'd also try calling the Passport Office directly first and ask if a PPS is actually necessary. If they say no, ask for the name of the person you're talking to, and include a note saying "Spoke to Fred @ 9:30am, 13/12/11 and was informed PPS was not required".

    Passport Office Dublin
    Tel. +353 1 671 1633 or LoCall 1890 426 888
If telephoning from Northern Ireland LoCall 0845 8504321
    Passport Office Cork
    Tel. +353 21 494 4700 or LoCall 1890 426 900

Your school's office will have a record of it.
