So the time has come to take the plunge and buy a snowboard, boots and bindings and looking for recommendations, but not too sure what to get.

So i'm probably just intermediate level, skill wise.

    I'm 5'8, 13stone (~83kgs), size 8.5 trainer/9 shoe.

I see a lot of boards with recommendations about height matching weight for a particular board and i'm about 20lbs over the recommendation for a 154cm board, due to playing rugby and weight training growing up. Does this really matter?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance

Only a suggestion, but here it goes..

Maybe just start with the boots, and over a holiday or two where you can test out boards; find what suits you and what you like. As you improve you will find where to go with the search..

Well that's what I did and as time went on I just continued with rented boards as I was taking regular long weekend trips and with the shipping costs it didn't seem worth the effort.

Snow and rock seem to have a bigger board and boot selection this year. Might be worth a trip out there if it is close by.
