I thought this was a straightforward question but I've looked all over and not found the answer, so I'm hoping someone on here can enlighten me.

Is there a minimum size a house has to be in Ireland? I'm wondering if there's a law that says a house must provide a certain amount of living space?

    Thanks for any help!

although there is no 'build the minimum house design book' available, have a look at this to focus what the minimum each space/room dimensions should be. then you have the individual Building regs like for instance Dis access which add to space sizes and as you go through them you'll start to see what is required. then there's what is considered suitable to be placed in a rural location or the equivalent for the city folk and then you start to think about how energy efficient it could be which isn't far off what is now required / and were soon to be at zero carbon in use anyway.

this is why your friendly local architect:) should be employed where you are building or if this is relating to somewhere your renting contact threshold
or see this from the government

Good links above posted by BryanF. :)

Unless it has changed recently the min. floor area of a dwelling house is 45 m2.

Apartments, as you will see from links provided, can vary depending on the number of bedrooms.
