first duck

i went for a short ramble this afternoon with rosie and my (new to me) remmy 870 scatter gun

where i went is a good spot for either duck and pheasant.
rosie was playing a blinder and she worked every ditch and left no ston un turned but i think it was to wet for the pheasant so i moved back to the river.

we walked the bank until we got to a bend in the river and to my amazement a good flight of duck got up about 60 or 70 or more yards away there must have bin 30 or 40 of them. of course being a rookie i left off a couple of shots but they were well out of reach.

so i settled my self and remembered some words of wisdom, a friend of mine told me that if i sit and wait there is a good chance the duck will circle around and land in the same area as long as they dont see you . so i tucked my self in to wait..

a few seconds later 3 teal broke from behind some trees and i snapped up the shotty and luck was with me i hit one at about 20 yards in the head. rosie had an easy retrieve as it splashed righ at the edge of the river

i danced a little victory dance for my self:D:D:D

that would have done me but a short walk later another one broke from the river to my right and whack. second one down. by now i was grinning from ear to ear
and rosie leaped into the water and swan across the river and delivered my second duck

click on the image above to view the video clip of rosie retrieving and you can hear the excitement in my voice

this is rosie and my bag

i am delighted with my pump gun and more than happy with rosie she continues to amaze me :D

i wouldnt be the best to give a review on a shot gun i dont know much about them except to say i am enjoying using this one and so far it has worked well and both times i went out to shoot with it i came home with something hanging from my belt .

i have to try it on clays for a while to see how it goes.
    good stuff poulo

going for my first duck shoot in jan cant wait looking forward to it what cartridge were you useing

i just had a mixture of different cartridges in my bag a mix of 5's and 6's and a half choke i think. i am not sure which one hit the duck.
sorry i cant be of more help.
there are some proper shotgun men on here that could point you in the right direction
