Shipping MTB to Canada

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to ship a MTB across to Canada. I just got a Cube LTD Team 6 months ago for 1300 and I am wondering if its worth shipping over or selling before I leave. I wont be able to bring it with me on the plane as I am going travelling for a few months first so I will probably have to ship it by DHL/UPS?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The shipping would cost at least half the value of the bike, so I would say reconsider.

I had shipped over a Saxophone once from US to IRL and that costed about 300 Euro, including insurance. The bike is heavier and bulkier.

I would be surprised if anyone would ship to Canada for less than E500,-

I just done a quick quote on sevenseasworldwide and its roughly €340 by sea, takes 80 odd days. Or round €1000 by air, takes 21 days

I wouldn't be rushing to sell it, I'd maybe hold onto it and see if there's a possibility that it could be brought over as luggage. Unless you have your full trip planned, you may end up coming through Ireland to get to Canada, and you'll be kicking yourself that you sold the bike.

Or a mate who's going with you to Canada might be able to take it with them?

On the other hand, the bike will be sitting unused and it's practically new. So if you sold it and ringfenced the money, you could probably buy a brand new equivalent bike in Canada for what you sold the old one for.

You could split the bike into two parts and ship it in two boxes.
AnPost charge roughly €10 per 1kg for standard post, insurance is ~€5 extra.

If you can split it up into two large boxes you should be able to post it with An Post for about 260 euro. No insurance though.

I haven't closely checked the allowable box dimensions. Not sure a frame would fit.
