My burner won't fire up, thought it was the photocell as I tried firing it up with the photocell out and it would run when I shined a light on the cell but would knock off when light was taken away. Got and fitted a new photocell but it is now trying to fire up once then the red reset button is coming on. Anybody any ideas??

Silly question but, fuel?? has the fire valve shut off ??

Exactly how long does it run for ?

Plenty of fuel, it tries to fire for 2 secs then shuts off and red reset light comes on. Guy told me I need a new burner, if I get one are they easy enough to instal? Seems like its just the oil pipe electric cable and a nut.

Getting a new burner is a bit extreme. when was it last serviced? injector changed?

Last serviced oct last year, the guy I had out said to change the whole lot, wasn't looking to make money off me as he suggested I could do it myself and would save me money in the long run. The burner is over 12 years old. Dunno much bout them so not sure what the life of em is.

From your first discription of removing the photocell i presumed you were talking about a Riello RDB, but i'm not sure if the RDB have been around that long, and the older Riello G3B would call for you to remove the control box to get to the photocell, either burner if you say it cuts out after 2 seconds then i would guess motor or control box.

It reads R.B.L RDB1 70-90 On the plate.

Well, with the best of a bottle of vino done my neck i must offer caution.

With a RDB photocell you should be covering the cell when you have it removed, then reset, and then showing it light when it fires.

    What happens then ?

I was doing that, it worked for as long as I showed it light, as soon as I took away the light it stopped, I assumed I needed a new photocell so I got one and replaced it, now it tries to fire up but locks itself out after 1 attempt I.e about 2 secs. I hope I'm explaining it ok, thanks for all your input. Hope the wine was nice. :):)

did you take the blast tube off ??,some of the newer reillo burner blast tubes have to go back on a certain way to accomadate the photocell view of the flame, there is a single hole in one of the fins
