Sister had an aneurysm rupture

    Hi there,

My sister had an aneurysm that was 1cm in size (huge!) rupture recently. She is lucky to be alive. It leaked around 1.5 litres of blood into her brain. Her surgery was a success, the surgeons were able to coil the aneurysm. Unfortunately she has a constant headache and can't really eat because the meds she is on are making her get sick all the time. She has lost about a stone in weight. I'm trying to find out how long she can expect to have her headache for. I know this is not a medical forum, but I'm looking to hear from people who have either had an aneurysm rupture or know someone who did. She's in bed for 22 - 23 hours a day and really can't do anything because the headache is so severe. I've read online that it can take weeks, months or even years. I'm living abroad and don't really have anyone to talk to about this so I would appreciate if the mods would leave the thread open in here. I hope I'm not breaking the charter by posting this here. I just really need to talk about it with someone.

You're pretty much looking for medical advice, so I don't think you'll get far.

From experience of two people who survived aneurysms, six months plus is the recovery time they had.

Personally I suffered a different head injury and it took more than three months for me to get back to "normal"

OP - while we sympathise with what your sister is going through we cannot in good faith leave threads open seeking medical advice.
If you wish to post back seeking advice on what you can do to cope with this yourself this would be fine but asking for advice on behalf of your sister is not appropriate to PI/RI.
