Freeview and Saorview

For what it is worth, family member bought a Samsung 22" Freeview HD recently, lives in Newry and gets Saorview channels including RTE HD and digital Aertel text fine. (It's analogue tuner can be disused when DSO happens)
Maybe someone can let us know if one UK spec Freeview HD tv works fine like this, will all? also would red button services may be an issue if used by Saorview.

If it's freeview hd,it will work perfectly in terms of receiving both.
Some are not as intuitive as others though.
One important spec is ...channel sorting (you don't want saorview in the 800's)

I'd urge caution though as any link to this model I've seen from google, mentions freeview tuner and not freeview hd.

No mpeg4 tuner (saorview) and the contrast ratio is only 800:1:eek:

You need a TV with an MPEG 4 tuner for Saorview.

Unless you are in an area that can receive UK Terrestrial (near N.I. Border, or signal from Wales or IOM on Irish coast) only get a Saorview approved set.

Ignore quoted contrast ratios and response times. They have been meaningless for years. See what it looks like in subdued light and with picture adjust properly (with all dynamic and enhancement settings off as they all degrade digital source video).

Why do you say this? Response time is very important if TV is to be used for gaming.

Or do you mean that the spec given is exaggerated/incorrect?

    The quoted specs are meaningless.
