No Satellite Signal - Regularly.

    Hi All.

Regularly, my Sky+HD box displays 'No Satellite Being Received'. I can sort it out by unplugging the AC cord and forcing a reboot. This might last for weeks or it could be as short as a day. It's not a real problem when we're in the house and we can see it happen but its a pain in the tubes when it happens if we're away and have recordings set on the planner.

We were away last Saturday and had two recordings fail. One failed because of a 'clash'. This happened because one feed went down at a time when we had two programs scheduled to record. Later that night we had a single recording fail because both feeds had gone down.

This is starting to wreck my head as I'm missing recordings which defeats the point of Sky+

I should point out that the Sky+HD box is an old Thomson refurb box that I requested from Sky as it has HD content via component out which I need for my HDTV that is not HD Ready i.e. not HDCP compliant & no HDMI connection

I've attached photos of the signal screen just in case it helps any diagnose the problem. I took these just after a reboot and annoyed Mrs. crosstownk by interrupting her Dollhouse fix :D Sorry about the crappy iPhone pics.

That's your answer, then. If you haven't upgraded the capacitors you should do so now.

Here's another link on how to do it http://www.stevetowells.vispa.com/

Sky are replacing old Thomson boxes in the UK as they are not compatible with Anytime+. Might be worth calling them and pointing out that you have a Thomson which is out of date and are due a free replacement.;)

So a new model won't have the required connections.

I need to keep this HD box if possible although I could manage without it but that would involve a HDMI splitter which is messy.

Thanks for the links. It's while since I've wielded a soldering iron but the job looks doable. I'll leave it until after Christmas just in case I balls it up!
