Lads, what's a fair price for a wild shot, plucked and butchered pheasant?

    Thanks in advance.

english market in cork have them for €7.50
crazy in my opinion as they are simple to prep.

look on youtube for the Rathcormac gunclub skinning a pheasant.

Thanks kenneths, seems reasonable! A skill's a skill, diesel and transport is expensive as is the guns, ammo, boots, introduction of the birds etc... don't want people to be ripped off.

That's quite a good price as they usually cost more over here.

It's especially good if they're plucked and not skinned; it's a right pain to pluck them.

€10 for a large one in Fallon and Byrnes in Dublin.

Big overheads, transport, plucking and butchering, I thought it was alright value for wild shot good food.

That sounds about right, John. The butchers don't make much profit on them either, most of the mark up goes to the game dealers.

They usually are. Loads of lads sell them to game dealers when they get them. Not into it myself, but it pays for a hobby for plenty of people.

I was reading in a shooting mag earlier this year that the market for such pheasants in the UK is very weak. Whereas Wild Venison appears to have some decent demand. Don't know what this means for Ireland - are birds exported from here:confused:
