Nice surprise in the trap today lads!

    graymink024.jpg

Only my second one of these in 20 years of trapping!

    graymink026.jpg

    graymink025.jpg

And the last one i caught was either 19 or 20 years ago!

    graymink027.jpg

Might be common as muck in some parts of the country but seldom seen with this colour around these parts!
caught this lad on the same stream as the one i caught years ago!

No gray mink! Just a colour variation from the usual black! I've seen a brown one and two gray's down through the years!

So that's the little critter responsible for my free range supply drying up. I hope you gave him as much grief as he gives the fowl.

Slow enough this year! Have 8 or 9 got so far, but one of the lads in the club starts in september with between 10 and 20 traps on the go, so i only have a couple of spot's to myself! He gets between 30 and 40 mink a year!

I have five traps on the go usually. I caught over thirty last year alot of work baiting and checking them. Not many people in our club are trying to trap them.:(

cheap for a mink trap is prob not worth getting it, we got the double entry a few years ago for €20 new, taught we were elected but after a few month the weld's started breaking and mink started escaping out of themicon9.gif. The best ones i find are a single entry but the door is double hinged icon14.gif , think they are between €25 to €30.

Ah thats not too bad they were between 35 and 45 when I was buying last! Where would you be best buying them? I saw ones in the coop @ home that had a complicated looking mechanism in them but I'd prefer the simple traditional single entry ones!
