Irish Rail refund

    Hi,

    I booked a ticket on Saturday to travel tomorrow. Dublin to Westport.
    I need to cancel it though.

    I looked online and it says to call a number and leave a voicemail, however I don't have access to a phone 'til tonight!

    Does anyone know what the admin fee is for refunds?

    i dont know the answer to your question but you can try the irishrail twitter feed via your pc and ask them through twitter?

    This happened me last month.

    From memory you get an 80% refund 3 days before the travel date.
    This drops to 50% if canceled less than 24 hours beforehand.
    You must call before 6pm too.

    Sorry, am a bit late with this advice but for future reference you don't need to phone. Just email info@irishrail.ie (from your address the booking email was sent to) with your booking number and journey details saying you wish to cancel and once IE receive the email by 11.59pm the evening before your journey, you'll get an 80% refund. If received on day of departure before time of departure you'll receive a 50% discount. You'll get an automated response from IE shortly after you email them but it could be a few days later before you get an actual written email saying you'll receive an 80% refund.
