    Hi,

i own two rover 200s... one is not working and the other has failed its NCT on emissions and the airbag emergency light is on suggesting the airbag has a problem or not working...
I intend to take the 'new' exhaust off the broken car and fit it to the one that failed the NCT... this should help improve the emissions right?
is this a difficult job to take the exhaust off? can i do it with just an adjustable spanner?

any ideas on how to fix the airbag problem?

    thanks a lot......

Unless the exhaust on the car that failed is leaking or broken then its unlikely that its the cause of the failure. The catalytic converter, lambda sensors or an engine issue are much more likely.

    What where the fail readings?

hi, i dont have the readings at hand at the moment but i think they are about 3-4 units beyond whats allowed both while idle and while running...

the NCT guy did mention about 'patching it up' so i assume he was talkin about the exhaust...

to be honest its a disaster..the head gasket went on the car...i gave it to a mechanic to look at and he recommended a new engine which he went ahead with but didnt say that he would eventually charge €900 in total at the end...he was supposed to get the car NCT ready too its a 99 reg and it failed on a number of things.. the new engine is knocking too...

    i feel very ripped off...

the mechanic said he will have a look at it when i get back to Dublin next week..

i feel like asking for my money back...

Well first things first u won't have a hope in hell removing the bolds off a exhaust with a adjustable spanner not a hope in hell.ul need a good sick point socket as it won't slip as easy as a 12 point one.also u should get a wire brush and some Wd forty.but the emissions problem is gona be down to a sensor being faulty or a air leak or mayb a blow in the exhaust.if u need any more advice I'm on hand to help just ask
