    Hi all,
Just thinking about installing a Bigsby on a US tele? Has anyone any experience doing this? How does it change the guitar? Are string replacements more difficult etc??

    Cheers

Staying in tune can be an issue. And they're a bit unwieldy and do nothing for the looks if it's something you don't use alot.

    Hi

I've done this to a squier tele, I think it looks good but there is a bit to it. First of all you probably need to change out your whole bridge so the strings come out the back of the bridge rather than string through the body. I used a B5 Bigsby style and I bought a wilkinson brand bridge which string through the back but what I have found is that the strings don't evenly pass through the holes and they'll need to be widened or notched (to be done during my christmas holidays).

Changing strings is cumbersome thankfully I fiited the tele with locking tuners which make it a lot handier.

I had to slightly shim the neck so the action was lined up better.

Now there is a whole kit that bigsby have that supplies the lot maybe this is easier to fit.

Here is my original thread on this project

You could check out a Stetsbar.

Very clean installation and removable with marking the guitar.

Hi, Ok I had some freetime today and notched the bridge with a hacksaw so that the strings pass freely. Very happy with the results as the tremolo is very even and the strings aren't getting caught.

However I found the tone has really changed, it has added a real metallic spank which sounds great for Chuck Berry licks and Rockabilly. I like to play Jazz on the neck pickup and with the tone rolled back there is a treble overtone coming in and kind of gives a "scooped mids" kind of sound.
