New to this but a former regular user of Rock & Metal on Yahoo answers.

5 is too hard to narrow down! my top 2 are Chop Suey and Toxicity :D

Not in any order but Sugar, War, Prison Song, Boom and I-E-A-I-A-I-O.

Hmm.. Probably Sugar, BYOB, Violent Pornography, Chop Suey and Bounce, though that's not in a particular order and is prone to changing.

Jaysus, it's been ages since I've given them a listen, they sort of fizzled out after "Steal this cd" for me, never really gave mez / hyp much of a chance. Anyhoo, without further ado, and in no particular order, I'd probably go: Sugar, Mr. Jack, Innervision, Chop Suey, I-E-A-I-A-I-O and War? to shake things up and make it 6 ;)

I love System and they are one of the most under-rated bands in rock history! my top 5 are(in no particular order):

Needles: how could u not like a song that says pull the tapeworm out of your ass! HEY!

Soldier Side Intro/BYOB: ok so its two songs but the intro is so simple and it sets the tone for BYOB in a very clever way. BYOB itself asks a very simple question that no-one seems to have answered yet! Why do they always send the poor anyway?

ATWA: i like the loud/quiet dynamic of this song and its probably one of Daron's better backing vocal contributions. he went overboard after this tbh with the exception of:

Hypnotise: I like the intro riff and the pacing of this, and the vocals are also clever too

Chop Suey: the signature tune of SOAD. u dont need to say anymore.

    Near Misses:

    War?
    Peephole
    PLUCK
    Suite Pee
    Sugar
    Revenga
    Psycho
    Toxicity
    Bounce

Reading this thread has spurred me to delve back into my SOAD colection, havinga very nostalgic listen back through the first album, Spiders, Soil and Peephole are all epic!

    Sugar
    Highway Song
    Chop Suey
    Forest
    Radio/Video

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Holy Mountains
    Atwa
    Chop Suey
    BYOB
    IEIEO

Hard to make a list as a lot of their songs are excellent

Just spotted this thread and plan to listen to it too.

The first five that come to mind as favourites, in no particular order:
    I-E-A-I-A-I-O
    P.L.U.C.K.
    Mind
    Aerials
    Know

In case it's not obvious I'm a fan of their earlier albums. I'm not really mad on Mesmerize/Hypnotize.

edit: ah, just remembered Mr.Jack. Another great song that should probably be in my top 5.

Love System of a Down, they used to be my favourite band so they did :)

Hmmm... let's see. In no particular order...

    Soil
    War?
    Deer Dance
    Tentative
    Revenga

On another day my bottom 3 there could be different!

Haven't listened to these guys in ages. I too stopped after Steal this Album, for whatever reason. Must get back into them!

Maybe it was a subliminal thing, a conflict from the fact that the album was called 'Steal This Album!' but they clearly didn't want you to steal it, they wanted you to buy it. For me, anyone who glorifies Charles Manson as a folk hero while trying to promote humanitarian causes makes me question what they're selling in general. That said, the first album is great, couldn't pick a top five out of it. 'Toxicity' is a fine song, as is 'Aerials'. And I too lost interest around the time 'Steal This Album!' came out.

They called it that because the album leaked online before it was released.

And they clearly wanted people to buy it by producing four 'limited edition' personalised covers.

I'm sorry, I just can't answer this question. It's impossible to decide.

Would it not be fair to assume the vast majority of artists want you to buy their music...? It is how they put bread on the table, after all.

Obviously. It's the irony of an album called 'Steal This Album!' being released with four 'collector' covers that I was referencing.

They were taking the piss out of people leaking their album, the irony is intentional.

    Ddevil
    Deer Dance
    Know
    BYOB
    Shimmy

The new stuff kinda pisses me off because Daron's voice goes through my head and as a result, I hadn't listened to them in years. I took out the self titled and toxicity a few months ago and had forgotten how awesome a band they are

Now here's a band i haven't listened to in years. I lost total interest in them many moons ago, but if i recall these were my faves:

    Storaged
    Darts
    Sugar
    War
    Soil
