    This might sound silly, but do you have a mic hooked up to it?

    I´ve seen threads of this nature elsewhere!

    When you say between the amp and speaker, do you mean
    guitar -> amp -> talkbox -> speaker?

    in general, talkboxs should be placed with the rest of effects pedal, ie
    guitar->talkbox->amp
    and you will need to have it hooked up to a mic as well

    like the right hand mic there, so it'll get picked up and sent through the speakers

    Nah, the Heil Talk Box goes between the amp and the speaker. When you turn it on, the amp's output goes into the speaker in the talkbox, through the tube and into your mouth. Your amp is driving the talkbox instead of its own speaker.
