Came across this gem in The Meath Chronicle via Namawinelake http://namawinelake.wordpress.com/

Property quango with no powers costs taxpayer nearly €4m

A Navan-based body set up six years ago to police and investigate estate agent 'mischief', which has so far cost the taxpayer close to €4 million, has yet to make a single investigation because the legislation giving effect to it has never been passed.
A brainchild of the Celtic Tiger, the National Property Services Authority (NPRSA) is based in rented offices at Abbey Road in the town and has a staff of nine - a chief executive designate, six full-time and two part-time staff.

Only in Ireland... fair play to Paul Neilan and The Meath Chronicle for unearthing this nugget, you could'nt make this $hit up.

Par for the course really, wish I was surprised. Wish I believed it was an accident that the legislation was never passed too but I imagine so many vested interests in the dail in this area pushing property speculation and still are given recent announcements to try to kick start the market in the budget by FG.

Why would FF have wanted an investigation into anything that was going to affect the gravy? Half the estate agents in the country are members of or supporters of FF for the same reason.
