Noob Question

Hi all, I've been reading through this forum and decided to get off the Mach 3 ripoff train and into DE shaving. I have a couple of newbie questions I couldn't find an answer for by reading through the threads and which I hope one of you fine gentlemen could help out with:

I have the Palmolive shaving cream (in the tube), but that's all. I've seen mention of a Palmolive shaving stick as well. Are these two either/or, or do you need both?

Also, I've got the Prorasa pre/post-shave cooling cream and the Prorasa shaving cream on the way (Christmas is coming early this year!). Will these two do the same job as the Palmolive stick and cream? I want to avoid falling into the trap of spending a small fortune on duplicate products. Maybe a vain hope, but good intentions don't cost anything...

    Thanks in advance!

The Palmolive stick and the cream in the tube should do the same thing in the end. It's just a different method of getting lather onto your face after using a brush.

Some people just have a preference for using a soap (the stick in this case) and a cream.

The Proraso pre/post stuff is for getting your skin ready for shaving and as an aftershave balm (I think - haven't used it)

The Proraso shave cream is just another product for generating lather from. Most shave soaps and creams are the same in the job they are there to do - generate lather - but many will have different scents and ingredients.

Proraso has menthol in it so is nice and cooling while it's on your face.
