Hi, I had a browse through afew of the threads here and couldnt see anything to fully answer my question: would Redwolf Airsoft be a good site to buy off? and does it even deliver to Ireland?

I was thinking of buying a cheap enough AEP on the site, around the $50 mark, and noticed that in the delivery section, it only mentioned specifically the UK and Germany- not Ireland, or even the EU.
If they DO deliver here, can anybody tell me roughly how much I can expect to be hit with taxes or delivery charges, for a simple pistol? I have read enough times on here about scare stories with customs problems and the like, so I thought it best to ask for advice.....
failing redwolf, what other websites would boardsies recommend for the budget-focused consumer? not looking to skirmish or anything, just a nice simple electric pistol for some occasional plink-plink target practice :)

I ordered a GBB pistol off them a few weeks ago so I can tell you how my transaction went.

They do deliver to Ireland and it takes about 1 week to arrive (You're given a tracking number anyway). They use one of the big name couriers (can't remember which one, TNT I think) who always put your package through customs so you WILL have to pay vat @21% or possibly 22%, not sure if it went up in the recent budget or not.

Any item which you paid over €20 or €25 will be susceptible to VAT and because of the particular courier you will definitely pay VAT. Also redwolf or the courier tell customs the price of the item plus shipping so you're charged VAT at that price, not just the price of the item itself (some companies only say the cost of the item so you pay less VAT). You will also have to fill out a customs form, they emailed one to me and I signed it and send them back a scanned copy.

You'll also have to prove that the device is under 1 Joule to the customs at the airport it arrives in. That means that if it's over 328fps with a 0.2g BB then it has to be downgraded and I believe that you can contact redwolf airsoft by email to ask them to do this for you. So you should email them first before buying to ask about this service if you need it. Seeing as you're looking at purchasing an AEP it shouldn't be over the limit so shouldn't require any downgrading.

Redwolf airsoft actually have a shipping quote section in the shopping cart section so add the item to your cart and select ireland as the shipping destination and it will give you a quote. Prices are in dollars on their site but you can change the currency to euro and get converted values for everything.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. They have a 12% off sale at the moment I think so that'll be 12% off any items you purchase not shipping.

Agree with CpcRc. I have used them for years and never given me any trouble. They do use TNT (sometime Fedex) for shipping.

Shops I also use from Hong Kong are Airsoft Global and ehobbyasia.

Whats ehobbyasia like? how much should postage be on a pistol? have been looking at asian sites, and they seem to be cheapest by far but know no1 with any experience with them!

Postage/shipping are tricky. What I mean is that, shops have different scale of shipping costs. Shop A would be cheapering shipping a GBB on it's own, but if you want to get a GBB and an AEG, then Shop B is cheaper. So, in a nutshell, don't just check item price, always include shipping!!

Regarding ehobbyasia, never had a problem. Very good at responing to emails.

It's important to keep in mind that the Asian sites aren't always the cheapest, though they might look the cheapest. You have to include VAT and shipping, sometimes downgrade costs. If they don't downgrade for you, it almost certainly won't survive it's brush with Customs.

Another reason people buy Irish despite the higher prices is that with a reputable Irish retailer, you have someone to go to and talk face-to-face with if something goes wrong. As Inari put it on another thread, you might be getting the best price but not necessarily the best deal.
