What I am wondering is a) can anyone recamended from ebay who they bought off, and also will I go for the lcd display+DIGITIZER

I see a lot on ebay from hong kong go for about 25-30e, but the odd ones I come accross like
    this

I doesn't show if it has the lcd screen on it in the pic, as a lot of them look likethis
Do they all come with the lcd display? does there be lack of hd quality in the non orgional

that is about the cheapest you are going to get for what you are looking for.

watch out though, the 4 replacement is a lot harder then the 3gs, which in my opinion is very simple.

I've watched a video on it and there does seem to be a lot of taking appart & putting the screws back in the same place

I fixed one last week, just need to take your time, and make sure u keep the screws/parts in the order you removed them. I was a bit anal about it and set out 30 labels on a towel :o
    Use this guide ifixit instructions

I got the screen from www.mendmyi.com. Screen is £30, back is about £10 and then it's a few quid for the required tools.

    Hi,

I cracked my iphone 4 screen and am going to replace it myself but I'm wondering does anyone know if there's much of a difference between the genuine replacement screen and the cheaper option.
    Thanks

be aware there is loads of different quality ones
    Copy
    High Copy
    High Copy with coating
    Original

The copies often arrive with dead pixels, flaws on the LCD and pressure causing the colours to distort in areas of the screens.
The Original is the way to go unless the seller will guarantee the high copy to be 100% perfect

    Copies range from €25-€50
Originals usually sell for anything from €50-€100

Thanks for the reply Cathal, think I'll spend the few quid extra and go for the original.

I replaced a smashed screen on my iPhone 4 last month with this one I bought off Amazon.

About €30 delivered - absolutely perfect. Could be brand new from Apple.

The only problem - which I'd say is the same will all kits - is the philips screwdriver. This will get skinned - you will need to buy a decent tiny screwdriver. (This in fact is the only screwdriver from the kit I needed for the whole process). I suggest buying it before you start, as otherwise you'll be stuck with a disembowelled phone you can't use until you get a new philips.

As already mentioned replacing the screen on the iPhone 4 is a good bit more difficult that the iPhone 3Gs but there are plenty of videos on YouTube to help - just make sure to keep the screws you remove separated/tagged so that they go back in the correct positions.

As for parts I got an iPhone 4 screen from this guy:
    http://appleservice.ie/

I know a few people that got screens from this guy:
    http://www.syncron.ie/
and he has also received good feedback on other threads in boards.
