The trackpad in my Macbook Pro is loose and sometimes I have to press it twice to get it to click on something.

My understanding is there a screw inside the machine, beneath the trackpad, which can be adjusted to fix the tightness. Will this fix the problem and has anyone here experienced this issue?

I have not heard of this problem, also I would be wary of fixing the trackpad on a MBP things are quite tight inside there but if you are comfortable doing it go for it but personally I would ring up mactivate or some other shop and book it in and they should be able to do it within the hour.

    Well this is odd….

My trackpad will now not recognize clicks unless I physically click down on the trackpad.

This is even odder, I was using two finger scrolling so my trackpad clearly was still working fully so I went into setting and all the options were off yet I never changed them at all.

Happens occasionally when you do updates, or hard reboot the machine and sometimes when you do a pram reset.

Also occasionally all the settings will appear the way they should be and you need to untick the trackpad boxes and retick, just one of those things I've noticed since leopard.

Its a pretty big adjustment screw and you are really really unlikely to mess anything up by adjusting it, it should be pretty tight but still register an audiable click you can feel when you push down on it, I;ve had to do mine a few times.
