    Hi guys and girls,
Just a query regarding family a friendly bicycle.....specifically the "yuba mundo"(longtail).....would anyone know if this bicycle is imported into ireland?...available through the cycle to work scheme?....or have any boards members ridden/tested this style of bike and your thoughts ect.I have looked online at the "kona ute" and the "surly big-dummy"(very expensive) and the "extra-cycle" and the yuba mundo would be my preference.I know they can be sourced in europe through their dealer network ect(practical bicycles in the uk also but the sterling difference makes it quite expensive)...just wondering about approx cost by air for such a bike by ryanair/aer lingus ect......any assistance or insight would be gratefully appreciated....Safe cycling to all

Hi Mollysmam,Delighted to say that I went ahead and got the "Mundo".Fab bike for hauling the kids to the park/beach/school/shopping ect.The kids love it and it puts a smile on your face every time you take it out..!....I am getting great exercise and it will be a practical replacement for the car on short journeys to town ect long after the kids are older and want to have their own bikes.....Its a blast to ride----you wont regret it.

I'm jumping on the "interested" bandwagon also, have been considering the possibility down the line of getting an xtracycle. Probably will only do this if a second kid comes along, but useful to know the info anyway

    Hi Mollysmam,
I got it through a family member in the USA.They were coming over here on holidays so they brought it over and I bought it off them when they arrived. The cost for the basic bike was 999usd but I added the side boards/the front shopping basket/the soft seats for the kids and the grab on handlebars for the kids also/and the side bags at an extra 500usd approx. All in all about 1500Usd fully kitted out which is approx 1150Euro.
One bike shop in Dublin(on Parnell St opposite LIDL said that they would import it for me through the cycle to work scheme however as I already arranged puirchase in the USA it was too late for me.It would be worth a call to these guys as it would save a significant ammount of money to get it through the cycle to work scheme. As I said earlier its a total blast to ride-the kids love it and its a great family adventure just heading to the shops/park/beach....!...they want to go everywhere on the mundo.Great fun.Hope this helps-Megamind.

I am looking at this myself for next year, between the Kona Ute (was on sale on CRC for 700 a few weeks ago) or the Yuba Mundo (couple of decent ones second hand in the UK (but then I have to factor in an extra 100 for collection).

The Kona looks more my style but what would be the feeling of Aluminium over 10 years be. I know it can take the weight but this is a bike to last for the childs early years, would it last 10 years.

I also seen the Kona MinUte for 440 on CRC, smaller than the Ute but for one child and grocery shopping is it sufficient in anyones opinion?

Very tempted by the MINute for 440 euro for a Al-round E-bike project. I seen several blogs from the US where ppl put two kids on a MINute.

The Ute was on sale for 730 yesterday from CRC and then ran out, I was a tad gutted.
