Transferring over from one TSM course to another?

I'm in sixth year at the moment and I've my heart set on English with French at Trinity next year. At the open day last week one of the lecturers mentioned that "a lot of students transfer into English but a very few transfer out of English"... That comment went over my head at the time but I've been thinking about it. If I wasn't to get my first choice (which will be English with French) how possible would it be to transfer over from another subject ( say Italian) into English? Thanks.0
