Take them to a pro shop and ask.

Where did you buy them? Were they much cheaper than normal?

Take good quality photographs and post here...........quite often you can spot the slight differences.

Take pictures of the Taylormade lettering as they often get that wrong. Is the serial number on the 7 iron embossed or just painted on?
Is the "carbon-fibre" on the back look real or just a sticker?

I kinda guess that if you think they are fake then they are.

If you get your 7i and take some pics and put them up here, I'l match the pics with a set bought from halpenny for comparison.

Isn't there a unique bar code/serial number on each club? It'd be handy if there was some kind of "cartell.ie" for all the major clubmakers on the one site.

Clubs do have a serial number, but that can be copied/faked too.

If you contact a clubmaker, the most they'll say is "yes, that's a valid serial number, but that doesn't guarantee anything. Take it to your local pro shop for a visual inspection."

Not sure if it says it in these videos but the best way I find is to check the 4 black lines coming out of the circle on the back of the club.

These lines are rubber on the real ones and plastic on the fake ones.

Also if you seriel # is the same as the one in this video, they are def fake

Going by those vids I think my burner 2s could be fake. I'll check with Taylormade tomorrow with the serial number from the 7 iron.

Controversial thing is they were bought at a highly reputable place. Held very highly by most on here.

Anyone have contact for Taylormade for stuff like this?

jees, i hope not for your sake!

look at the bit the arrow is pointing to in the pic. If this or any of the 4 lines are not rubber, then they are most likely fake.

They certainly don't feel rubber but I'm not pulling them off.

Hope I'm wrong but these really do look fake.

I've been using these for a year. Probably cost me shots and handicap points all over the shop.

This place has a lot to answer for.

Will do but I'll be keeping mum until I can confirm it with Taylormade.

A big thanks to the OP. I was just browsing, checked the video against my irons and here we are.

    I'm pissed right now.

Another big giveaway are the shafts. Throw you eye down along them.
If they are not 100% true, then thats another big giveaway.

What part of the country are you in Ratzy?

If you're near Tipperary or Kilkenny, you can call in to me someday in the shop and I'll take a look for you.

Same goes for you "the lawman".

As has already been mentioned if you notice differences in colour, markings or finish quality or in shape it's most likely a fake. Unfortunately a huge amount of clubs on sites like eBay (for example) are fakes, especially when the seller is located in Asia. Upwards of 30% in fact are fake.

Here's a good website with a list of some of the websites selling fake clubs: http://fakegolfclubsellers.com/

I was being well OTT on this it turns out. Totally confirmed that the irons are 100% legit and all is good.

My main concern at the time was the serial number didn't look 'etched' on the 7 iron but have since found out that it is laser printed at TM which makes it look like just simple painting.

I guess sometimes when you are told to look for something you will find a way to find it.

The backs of the clubs really do look like a sticker though no matter how long you spend looking at them!!

I'm glad you got sorted, but that vid is quite accurate and I had a set of those exact clubs in my possession.

If it wasn't for the vid I would have bought them.

Even the serial # on the clubs I had matched the clubs on the vid!!!

Totally agree with you there, that video will help many lads.

For me I just got a bit carried away.

The 'sticker' on the back, the 'slightly off-line paintwork' and the 'serial number' question on my irons matched exactly what he was saying so I can be excused somewhat for the reaction I guess.

Dont have the clubs with me at the moment but the part you mentioned about the serial number thats the real art that had me worried i thought it was engraved buts its not will just have to check if the lines on the back are rubber and that should clear it up

So it was either Bannons or Sports Direct?

I'd hate to think that a legitimate business would do something like this on purpose. I'd hope that if it is the case that they are fakes (which hopefully they're not), that it was just a mistake by someone in the purchasing department of the company who wasn't aware of it, and knows very little about golf and the dangers of buying clubs from places like Asia.

No problem at all. You'd nearly buy a set of authentic clubs in what you'd pay in the price of petrol (with how expensive petrol is these days. Wait, I meant in how cheap we are).:)

I got caught by an ad on Done Deal, an Irish guy from Tipperary Town who sold me a fake K-15 driver knowingly. The guy is a member of Tipperary golf club and quite a good golfer. He got caught himself and passed it on to me, when I noticed it was a little dodge looking I phoned him and wanted my €180 back. He denied all knowledge and said my gripe was with the guy who sold it to him. He was a bare faced liar though as he used a fake name and address for his ad on Donedeal. Never got my money back either, I know his name, address, club and handicap but have never followed it up. Tempted to name and shame him

    Do sure. Spill the beans.
If I were you I'd take him to the small claims court I think it only costs €5 or something small like that.
If he knows he is wrong he will probably contact you and settle up with you as soon as he gets a letter from them.
