Hi all,

This was taken at around 8.30am this morning from sandymount (looking over dalkey direction.
Is this a plane. Seems a bit odd with the type of vapor trail that it leaves?

Any ideas?

Defo a plane. The dark colour of the contrail is caused by refraction of the sunlight.

It looks vertical as it is quite a distance away and close to the horizon.

Its just a normal contrail being lit differently as the sun comes up.

Yeah , the conspiracy nuts had a field day but in fact it was possible to tell what airline it was based on the time of day.
Optical illusion is all.

At the start of the video it looks like they have fitted afterburners to the A380
