    Hi,
Just comparing the differences between these two:
    Galaxy Y and Galaxy SII

    on 3's website.

The Y is 99 onprepay and the SII is 519. Major price difference. But according to the spec, the SII has a slightly better battery, way better camera and way more memory.

But surely you could just get an SD card and put in the Y? And if you don't care about the camera - what else is the difference?

    So what are my missing?

    Thanks.

Alot! There's a world of difference between the two. They are similar in name & name alone. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4117&idPhone2=3621

Does the Galaxy SII browser support HTML 5?

Also what video formats does it support? I want to watch some videos onthose long train journeys :-)

Yes it supports html 5 and flash. It's media capabilities would put your average laptop to shame. It is a powerhouse and well worth the seemingly high price tag. (It's worth it for the "Super Amoled Plus" screen alone.)

Picking your first android phone can be tricky, a budget handset will give you a taste of what it's like but you'll soon feel it's limitations.

Your best bet is to decide on an upper limit on what your willing to spend and look for the best phone in that price range (or ask here).

You don't need to spend €500+ to get a decent phone. If your into portable gaming, the sony ericsson xperia play is a steal at €150 at the moment.

Totally agree, phones like the Galaxy Mini and the Galaxy Y are fine phones for only 100€, they offer a hell of a lot of connectivity options for such cheap phones, they allow you to download apps etc.. However, they can't really be compared to something like an S2.

The S2 is an absolute beast of a phone, for Tech-heads, its an amazing piece of kit. Anybody couldn't but say that the screen in gorgeous, even compared to the super AMOLED screen in the original Galaxy S, its a massive step forward. Then ya get down to how it handles android, the smoothness of operation and the speed at which it launches apps. Overall, as a package, it is amazing

I haven't played witha Galaxy Nexus yet but suffice to say, the only high end android phones that should be considered at this stage are the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Nexus

My HTC desire died a death recently and I wanted to buy a SGS2 but wasn't due an upgrade for a couple of months - so to get me through the next few months I bought a SGY.

While it's okay - it's nothing like the Desire. the screen is a bit crappy, and really small for my fat fingers to type. There's some limitations of the apps that i bought (tasker keeps crashing) and it drops the network occasionally. It did come with gingerbread (the desire only had Froyo) and the internal storage space seems adequate for what I need. I also replaced the supplied 2gb micro SD with my old 4gb micro SD - with all my music etc on it. It seems to work fine.

In conclusion - the SGY is okay - but just okay. For me it's just a stopgap until I get my upgrade - when I'll probably go for the new SG3.

I got a brand new S2 on adverts for 300. You can get the S2 cheaper if you look around.

Comparing between Galaxy Y and Galaxy SII is like comparing between Toyota Yaris and a Porsche...........
