The world's oldest living dog, according to the Guinness Book of Records, has died in Japan aged 26 and eight months.

Pusuke - who was born on April 1, 1985 - fell ill earlier this month, and his owner Yumiko Shinohara was "so sad" when the pooch passed away.

He told the Shimotsuke Shimbun newspaper: "I'm so sad ... I would like to tell him that I appreciate he lived a long healthy life."

But Pusuke fell short of being the oldest dog ever, according to the Guinness Book of Records, which is a title given to Australian canine Bluey who died in 1939 aged 29 years and six months.

Still, excellent news for whoever was until now the World's Second Oldest Dog.

He or she has been waiting years for Pusuke to pop his clogs.

First Michael Jackson then Gerry Ryan, Amy Winehouse and just when the scars start to heal we get hit with the biggest loss of all, poor Pusuke.

    R.I.P.

    /runs through meadow

Here’s a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road is where I’ll always be
    Every stop I make,
    I’ll make a new friend,
    Can’t stay for long,
just turn around and I’m gone again.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
Down this road, that never seems to end,
Where new adventure, lies just around the bend.

I hope you're all ballin' now :pac:
