Specsavers contact lens eye test

Asking here to see if I should complain...

Had my eye test at Specsavers in Clonmel and got my prescription for Left eye +6, Right eye +6 (astigmatism). It seemed little bit odd to me, but I did know I had astigmatism so I was using normal contact lenses +6 and +6.5.

So I was given contact lenses of L +6 and R +6 , one brand, and as I checked on Internet they don't do more than +6 but if I covered my left eye and than right eye I could see that objects seems bigger in right eye than left eye (as left one was supposed be higher than right eye I think)

So I got different brand for astigmatism +6 and +6.5 and they are fine. It is just little bit odd they gave me +6 and +6 only because they didn't have +6.5 or higher.

Even my prescription says +6 and +6.

I gave it a try for a month and few weeks and still same, didn't bother to go back to complain about prescription but eventually I got myself +6 and +6.5 and it's much better.

Is it normal to give wrong prescription in Specsavers? I was there for over an 1/2 hour so I thought it would be precise.

It seems to me that when those eye tests are so cheap in Specsavers they are counting on me buying contact lenses from them and maybe they don't sell higher than +6 (???)

You get what you pay for.
it always makes me laugh too when people complain about the quality of frames from specsavers, breaking easily etc
again, you get what you pay for

Does a Tommy Hilfiger pair from Specsavers break more easily than a Tommy Hilfiger pair from and Independent optician? And I have absolutely no vested interest. In fact for convenience I switched from Specsavers to an Independent but when I used to go to Specsavers I never had a problem with their glasses.

I don't think it's a case of them giving you the wrong prescription.
Do you know how much correction your astigmatism needs?
If your astigmatism is relatively low then they might not give you a toric lens because you can still have good sight with a spherical lens, and toric lenses are a lot more expensive.

Some brands don't come in over +6.00, if you're unhappy with your vision, speak to your optometrist and I'm sure they would be able to work something out.

I, as an optometrist who used to work for Specsavers, find this supremely insulting. I would do my best for any patient that I have, whether I am working in a multiple or an independant practise.
The reason places can sell it cheaper is the same that bigger supermarkets can sell brand names cheaper than a smaller corner shop- bulk buying
