Alright folks. got my bike stroked two weeks ago so back looking for a new one.

I'll be doing a fair bit of commuting (28km a day - 14km each way) and also will be doing a few triathlons during the summer

Ideally looking to spend in or around 800 quid as i still havent paid off the last one yet which is a killer. I can get one through the back to work scheme at 30% off. At the moment i really like the Strada but seems like the canyon is a better bike. Obviously cant get it through work scheme. So basically just want to knwo do people reckon its worth the extra 300 quid and hastle of ordering it etc ? any thoughts appreciated

I think the canyon is worth the extra 300, it's a better spec, looks better (imo) and is 1kg lighter. I see it's not available until either next Feb or April depending on size, so that might be a factor.

I have a 2011 strada 1000 btw. No complaints really, but i'd prefer 105 10 speed (2012 Tiagra is 10 speed). I'm not sure about the canyon, but there's little or no clearance for full mudguards on the KTM. Might be a factor to consider for your commute.

    cheers for that.

i saw one in the shop today and they had mud guards on it. the february / april thing could be a factor ye. Is there really much of a difference between 105 and tiagra ye ?
    Not sure what to do

just noticed the back derailer is 105.

Why cant you get the canyon on the BTW scheme, there are no restrictions, even for online purchases, unless your employer has specifically given a list of retailers you can only use. I'd go with the canyon myself.

Neither, get a discounted CAAD 10, great bike for the money and a brilliant frame which is worthy of any further upgrades.

Some left here, and delivery is only €25 :

I think there's very little difference now that tiagra is 10 speed, both work really well and are very reliable. I'm sure tiagra is a bit heavier (looks like it's all in the chainset), but probably only a factor if your're racing.

The caad 10 looks like a good option too, a lot of development $$s gone into the frame and it gets rave reviews.

I thought shops had to be signed up to the BTW scheme ?
anyone heard of someone getting one on-line ?

That cannondale doesnt have big enough sizes left. cheers though.

So with the tiagra 2012 being ten speed on the KTM, is their still a good enough difference between the two bikes ye ?

Probably not worth €300 difference tbh, more down to personal preference, I'd convince myself to get the canyon because I prefer look and it's a bit lighter.

so the main difference is a sligtly better group set and he kg in weight which i could lose myself. I would prefer the canyon because of those differences but not sure for 300 notes. Also think the KTM looks class myself

Anyone know if a bike shop would order the canyon in for me (for a cost) and then i could get it through the BTW scheme ?

    You can buy anywhere.
I used company credit card to buy from shop in England.
Keep an eye on the VAT. If the foreign shop can't charge Irish VAT (such as Chain reaction or Wiggle are able to) you have to get them to remove their local vat and your employer has to charge it over here.
