Sorry if this has been answered already but I couldn't find anything.
I bought BFBC2 from gamersgate.com for around E25 but they don't seem to be carrying this one.
Cheepest I can see is $60(E45) from EA or 40GBP (E48) from direct2drive.
    anyone know of anything cheaper?

    I hoping to run this on a HD4890 1GB with a q6600 2.9ghz
anyone know how this will perform? BC2 runs 1920x1080 maxed with descent fps.

    Ta.

    34 euro on gamestop:
Not limited, but you can't buy that now, a i think it was only a preorder thing

    http://www.gamestop.ie/39732_PC_Battlefield_3_Standard_Edition.aspx

    As for your PC specs,
CPU is fine, GPU iv no idea, dont know anything about ATI cards, but being a 1gig card id say so
i recomend Min 4gig ram, not the 2 GIG EA recomend

Got mine from offgamers.com 22 euro think you can still get limited edition, it's a Russian version that takes 5 mins to patch and another minute to patch any subsequent updates ...

Just a heads up, Gamestop Balbriggan probably still have the Limited Edition on PC. I got mine off them on Friday, so it's worth calling them up and asking

There's a lot more to it than the amount of ram.

The HD 4890 will struggle badly, and he'd want to try overclock the CPU.

Probably around 40fps with everything on low, no AA, and there will be drops to the 20's or even teens with that rig.

BF3 is a different kettle of fish to BC2 - performance wise they're not comparable.

I'm running a 4870 on mid settings fine, good (50+) FPS.
Used to have an e6600 (dual core @ 2.4) got around 30FPS on low with GameBooster running.

That setup should be fine, probably do quite well on low, the extra 2 cores will really stand to you.

at 1920x1080?? If so, I believe you're giving us what FPS you see sometimes, but not the average.

I ran a HD 4870 on it for testing a while ago, and no way does it get 50fps average on medium.

Why do I keep assuming everybody is running the same resolution as me
Not the first time I've done it... won't be the last... =/

    I'm on 1280x1024

Did you try the AMD Overclocking panel in CCP?
Did you notice any artifacts afterwards?

ok so I just wanted to follow up,
got the russian version as beno suggested and patched it up to the english version
this meant an extra 1 gig download but I had absolutely no problems.
I had to install ea's origin muck software but I imagine you'd have to do this with the disk version too? correct me if I'm wrong.

    I'm running the game on a q6600 @ 2.9 ghz. with 8gigs of ddr3 1333mhz
and a stock speed radeon hd 4890 1gig.

I'm getting about 20-70 fps at 1240x720 on High preset settings.

lowering the settings to the lowest only gains about 2-3 fps for some reason so I'm leaving them high.

I get an average of 40fps in normal play but some locations on some maps
cause the frame rate to dip below 30.

All in all It's a good laugh and runs well enough for me.

my box 360 controller is supported and configurable which is really nice
however you'll still have to use a mouse to access the loadout
    sections of the menu/ui.

Its not making much of a difference because your CPU limited at that resolution & with that CPU.

Yeh we all have to use Origin :/
Battlelog should just have been built into the game instead of :
Click on battlefield, origin opens, then origin opens battlelog, quick match, battlelog opens origin, finally game window opens :S
Makes no sense at all !!

    You reckon it's the CPU?
It's possible but wouldn't that mean that the larger maps with more
    players would give lower FPS?

I used to run this thing at 3.2Ghz on my old GA-965P-S3.
I had to change the board when it died and stupidly went for a G41M-P26.

The baxterd thing won't run the frontside bus higher than 340 so I'm stuck at 2.9 - 3.0 ghz

It's a pity because it's the G0 low voltage jobby so there'd be loads of room
for overclocking if I had the right board.

Oh and surprise surprise, Origin is telling me my password is wrong so I can't even play the fu*k'n thing now

I can't log in or reset my password,
Is this happening to anyone else?

You're CPU limited at that reso, but the game itself is GPU limited, meaning you're gonna get pretty much similar performance no matter what map you play IMO. You probably get large enough spikes from like 70fos down to 20, but probably averaging around 30 or so.

can anyone point my cheap ass in the direction of a discunted deal on the karkand pack?
15 squids is a bit steep for 4 maps especially seeing as I already own bf2

I think you might be right about the cpu being the limiting factor. I oc'd the video card by almost 10% but saw no improvements.

p1ssed off now as I cant get this POS mainboard to break 340 on the fsb.
avoid the g41 boards like the plague unless youve got something with a high multiplier.

incidentally, if anyone has an lga775 board that supports ddr3 for sale I'd love to hear from you.
