Interfearance on Sky Box

    Hi All,

don't know if this has been asked before. I it has I do apologise. Anyway, here's my problem.

We have a Sky+ box in our front room. Every now and then the channel juts changes. When you flick back to the channel you were looking at, the box changes channel again. Then you have to change the station back again. It's like as if somebody close by has a remote and is flicking channels just to wreck your head.
Just now the missus and myslf are looking at TV and then the Sky+ box just switches to the 'planner' menu and starts a film that we sky plused a few days ago. This has happened at least 3 times this evening.

We're curious to know could it just be our next door neighbours changing their channels and our box is picking up their remote.
Or, more seriously, is somebody 'hacking'/'hijacking' our sky signal.

    It's rightly annoying.

Any help/comments would be most welcome.

Have you tried removing your own remote from the room in case it's causing the problem?

Or they could just take the batteries out :P. I've not heard of this happenig before Op. Have you tried.

I'd suggest you try doing a system health check on the box. Apart from those two not much else you can do.

    Thanks folks for the replies.

Never thought of removing the batteries from the remote.

What I kinda forgot to mention was that we've one of those digisender devices attached to the box to send the signal upstairs. So i've turned that off for the moment to see it that makes any difference.

The digisender could be causing it,change the frequency on the digisender.I've heard of similar happening with neighbours having digisenders and one remote changing channel in the other house.

Best one I ever heard was a customer who told me that every time he sat down the channel would change . I asked him to look under the cushion. :)

Many thanks for all the replies. Liked that one Tony. Hate to admit it but it was one of the first things I thought of.

Digisender seems to be the trouble alright.
Have changed it to a different frequency, and we leave it off of we don't need to watch the upstairs telly.
    No spurious channel changing since.
