Yea .. For some reason the clock that reads the average consumption of diesel seems to have a mind of its own.. What mite be the cause of this ? It even goes up and down when engine turned on..

in my Toyota corolla I have an instantaneous mpg reading and an average mpg reading.the instantaneous one shoots up and down depending on how I drive and the terrain.the average one is pretty damn accurate.maybe its the same in the mondeo

Yes the vw one is the same it will be all over the place taking off but settles down when driving. I think the op is saying its up and down while idleing... Maybe I read it wrong..

The Mpg reading seems to have stabised abit. not going up or down as quick as before. drove over 139 miles on it and the reading is say'n 58.4mpg. this cant be an acurte reading. The most it ever read was 53.mpg. if only the reading was true :) Does anybody know if this model mondeo have instantaneous mpg as wel as average mpg reading ? i dont have a manual for this model. am using a manual from a petrol one so am unsure.:o

Yes, mondeo from 2004 can have instantaneous mpg, on some country it was standard, in others no, and you need activate this option in Ford dealer service.
