How to block incoming call on 3gs?

Hi folks. The GF is receiving fairly regular calls from 1 specific msisdn and she'd like to block it. I've looked through all the settings on the handset and can't find the option to block an incoming call. I assumed this would be a basic setting. I've done a search but all i've managed to find is info about an app called iblacklist (sp) but the handset isn't hacked. Would updating to ios5 offer the feature?

Could anybody point me in the right direction, please?

iBlacklist is the only way to do it.

tell your gf to ring whatever network she is with, afaik all of them can block certain numbers from calling you

we're in the uk, i assume we can contact o2 to do it but I was planning on that as a last resort. i'm just slightly taken aback that it's not a basic phone feature, any handset i've had in the last 3-4 years has been able to do it. ah well, it's not really my problem. thanks all

There's a free similar app called true caller, I only downloaded to check it out and deleted it.

But there's an easier way. Save this person's number in phone as "dickhead".
You need to add a silent rigtone to the phone.
Then set that as custom ringtone for him.
Phone will still ring but at least not bother her.

You need ios5 to be able to set custom ringtones and custom vibrations (or turn vibr off for a user).

This is pretty much what iblacklist and truecaller does as I understand them.

I can't imagine any network that would allow a phone with this basic feature as a standard to be connected to their network.

Most phones allow you create caller groups and assign ring tones including a silent one to the group. Create one for your crank caller.

However, it sounds like an ex issue and it will persist - people who act like this are generally obsessed and will find a way. The best way to do it is escalate it with the network.

Network can't do anything about it, will have to report it to the Police/Gardai as a nuisance caller and they'll work with the network provider.

o2 offer a service for blocking text messages but not for voice.

sorry, i'm just seeing this now. fyi, samsung phones from as far back as i can remember (e.g. j700) have had a feature called "reject list" which would auto block calls from specified numbers. i assumed most decent spec new phones had it at this stage as my last few have.

nothing as sinister as an ex issue (although that would be more entertaining), she gave her details to a chugger and now she's being hounded; too charitable for her own good.
