I am on the look out for a 22" TV as a present for Xmas and came accross the following in Currys - LG M2280D 22" Full HD LED Backlit TV Monitor - linky

Its the best spec I can find for the price other than Ebuyer, but they aren't shipping to Ireland right now.

    Full HD
    2 X HDMI
    USB for movie/audio/pics
    Soarview

Yes, all TV's that Currys sell in Ireland are according to Declan on the Currys forum.

Yes it's definitely Saorview enabled, the new Saorview text service is very impressive on it.

By the way before I bought mine I asked Powercity to pricemach and they said no because their LG 22inch is different model and Powercitys was 40 or 50 quid more.

I noticed Powercitys prices are up higher the past month to catch the Christmas rush.

Are you able to pick up freeview channels on this also?

Its marked as MPEG4 rather than Saorview on the price tag in Currys in Mahon. It does pick up saorview and the new version of aertel

The link says "Digital Freeview tuner" so I would assume so.

I've got an LG 42" with an MPEG4 decoder and a freesat tuner and I have been receiving the saorview since it went on trial last year(?) and all the freesat stations (similar to freeview). LG are nice tvs.

Can someone confirm if this 22" tv can pickup the free HD channels like you can on freesat?

If its saorview and HD,then all you need is an ariel,as this TV will pick up Saorview without the need for a box.

How would that allow you to pick up Freesat channels?

Think people are getting confused here once again about UK Freeview, Irish Saorview , versus UK Freesat, versus FTA nchannels on any satellite receiver.

My advice for anyone confused is to search the satellite forum as this pops up every week with people mixing them all up.

Or stop posting bad advice when they don't understand the various terms.

This exact TV cost me 98.50 at Christmas in Tesco. Wasn't badged as Saorview but when I got it home it was.
