noticed on the Irish times website this morning that Liam Toland's column is no longer listed on their rugby page, i wonder/fear if he's been replaced by Alan Quinlan.

That would be ludicrous if true!

Would be a bit strange for them to remove all his past articles if that were the case.

He's in today's Irish Times so it looks to be all fine.

Do people actually read his column?

I can never make it past the first paragraph. It's like reading stream of consciousness writing from someone with attention deficit disorder!

I miss Bob Casey's column, that was always a great insight into the life of a rugby professional.

Yes I read it weekly, even look forward to it. Good analysis and insight with loads of (irrelevant) Military sidelines.

He has bordered on the ridiculous at times (suggesting Ireland pack down with Paddy Wallace at 7 and David Wallace in the centre for attacking scrums v France in the 6 Nations!!) but he is generally pretty good.

He has the right mix for an analyst in these times: a Munster man who played for Leinster.

His real life punditry is atrocious. Newstalk's preview for the HCup final was tarnished by him.

He's a terrible writer; he shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard until someone teaches him how to form and explore ideas using English.

The IT is a bit weird; their standards seem to hit the highest peaks (George Kimball RIP, Keith Duggan is also pretty good) and then the likes of Toland.
