Excessive fee for getting tax back! :(

I worked for 3 months on a J1 in NYC. I was advised by USIT to use taxback.com to claim back my tax. I sent them the documents they requested and they told me I am owed $197 in tax back but they are taking a $90 fee off of that and then another $15 to transfer the money to my account. So instead of getting the $197 I am owed I am getting $92. I find this fee to be a bit excessive. Is it too hard to do the tax back proccess myself, should I just let them charge their fees to save myself the trouble. I'm a student so I don't exactly have cash to burn at the moment.

$92 for a professional service is hardly excessive. The $15 fee is quite reasonable for a foreign transfer.

It just happens your tax refund was quite small. You win some, you lose some.

Not really one for the taxation forum tbh.
