Dundalk All Weather

Thought it'd be a good idea to have a thread ongoing for all the all weather racing at Dundalk over the winter.

For tomorrow I quite like Heir to the Mint. Ran a nice race here last time off a mark of 47 having entered handicaps off a mark of 75,that's in the eight o'clock. Up two pounds but hopefully he can put two good runs together, having ben beaten only a length into third last time. Must be a huge disappointment for the owners though,he had an Irish Derby entry a few months ago.

No good last week. I backed Home Secretary though, had it posted in the gambling forum.

One at a price tonight is Ma Ani in the last at Dundalk. Hasn't shown much this year but has seemingly had problems given such long breaks between runs. Has slipped from as high as 92 in the weights but is down to 52 now, down 3 pounds from last week's race over 10 furlongs here which wasn't all that bad considering it was her first run in three months. Her best run was back in September in a claimer off a mark of 62 so the handicapper is giving her some relief. She could well come on from the last race and was only beaten two lengths over course and distance off a mark of 67 just over a year ago. Small each way bet

The local horse Ultra Cool was fancied last time .He is fancied again tonight backed him at 9/2.Moneriggoni is the best horse in the race but i heard nothing for him but the stable like to win around this time of the year[Lake Pontchartrain 14/1].

I'll be heading to my first Dundalk meeting in January with a few workmates. 1 night stay in a local hotel who have a mini bus to drop you down and you get your entry in and a brekkie(to get rid of that hangover) for €60 ya can't go wrong! :D

Out of interest as i'm only home so for the last 4 races just done a €1 Lucky 15: Denny Crane 7/4, Sughera 5/1, General Bunching 13/2 and Fantasy King 7/2 just over €1200 if they come in

I take it, it's the Crown Plaza that you'll be staying in.
A better idea might be to book your hotel seperately. then if there are a good number going, ring the track and agree a reduced entry fee for all of you.
It can work out a good bit cheaper.
I have nothing to do with the track by the way.
I go as often as I can as i'm living in town and injoy a gamble.
The betting ring is small, so you can see when the large wagers are going on which sometimes gives you a hint as to the winner.
It's a good nights crack after the racing also.
As for being cold, the upstairs of the stand give you a great view of the track, and it's warm.

Hope this helps you, injoy the night.

I THINK I might have one here. On form Napa Starr in the 5.30 race in Dundalk tomorrow has to be in with a huge chance.

Watched last weeks race a few times. with the swing in the weights, I would give him a serious chance of winning. Hopefull he'll settle in the middle early on.

Your tips are improving (slightly). Kempton on Wednesday 2/1 Fav finished 9th of 11 and tonight at Dundalk 9/4 Fav 6th of 14.

    Here's a proper tip - Lexus on 28th - Ruby Light 7/2

Discrepancies in the BF and bookies prices tonight at Dundalk are huge. Bigger than normal

I like Hello Man in the second last tomorrow. Very well handicapped on old form, ran a good race over course and distance last time out after 3 months off to finish fifth beaten under 2 lengths. Rated a pound less than that run and he hadn't a clear run that day. Missed the 14/1 but 10/1 still available

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,886 ✭✭✭MoscowFlyer

I'll hopefully be getting word for one in that race tomorrow, if it's Hello Man as well then we could be on to a good thing!

Looked at his last race and would agree he could have finished closer,Tonight he has a shocking draw he was drawn in 4 last time.Footprint is very well drawn and back 2 f on his last run where he clearly did not stay.Ardglen Trier ran in a 2 m hurdle last time out and now is running over 6f.The trainer did not enter the horse in any mile or further races so if money comes for him he would be of interest.Good luck with Hello Man.

I think charismas birthday will take the world of beating in that race
No apprentice on board today either
Only headed on the line last week by a horse I always back almadaa

If looking at a ratings point of view he is 8 lb wrong with Hello Man for beating him 1 1/2 lgts.He is well drawn in 3 provided Footprint does not go off in front while Hello Man is drawn very wide.

That's true but Charistmas birthday is only 4 and improving lately
Hello man is 9 and exposed
Also he has been out of form for over a year now
Chances are he won't come anywere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭GMROCKS

what bout rose garnet, running of an all time low, weights and rating,i know his form is bad but he seems to like the lower draw here, and with no app on board.came 4th out of 13 here in january carring 11lbs extra.

gona take a punt on him as i think the draw and weight are right 12/1.

He's something like 14 lbs below his last win. We'll see anyway, wide open race, I have a small bet at 10/1
