    Heya Lads,

I noticed a good number of teal arriving here in the past 3 weeks on my local bog. I live just outside Dublin. I have shot 3 or 4 but wont be shooting any more , they're too small ! I have a foreshore license and am just wondering is it worth a trip down to Lough Sheelin or Lene ? Any geese or duck on it yet??

Wudnt bother with Lene. I live right on the shore of it, havnt heard or seen a duck in a long time, like pheasants they are all plentiful when they are out of season.

I didnt walk my dogs round the lake most of the year because there were so many young duck about, been out good few evenngs and seen bugger all !! :(

most of the ducks are off the lakes round here as there is so much water everywhere ,they can choose to go where they like

Having some brilliant duck shooting in fields where rivers and drains have flooded over into grass land. I suss out spots with about 6-8inchs over water and decoy the that flood. The key that I have found is not to be too far from a flight-line ( my case my local river and 5 or six large drains/canal that feed into it.

Getting a lot of teal and wigeon with the odd pintail. I find that 2 or 3 days recon gives a good evenings shooting and to be honest I enjoy the recon as much as the shooting.

    good luck. HD.

PS have been on a couple of the lakes in the boat over the last month.1000s of birds but as said earlier all on open water and wary as hell.
