Im gradually making my house more efficient and the other half has asked me to get a room ready for our 7 month old to move into. The room is small and I was considering putting insulated slab on the exterior walls but whats the piont with a big vent in the wall sucking all the hot air out!

How are people dealing with this?

Are people sealing these? I would be too concerned about carbon monoxide.

Are there good quality vents that you can close properly?

I'd be very interested to hear what people are diong the make old houses efficient.

The more you insulate the more important it is to ventilation is (for the health of the occupants as you make the room more airtight).

I know that really does not answer your query - certainly insulate but do not consider blocking or closing the vent!

first of all you need ventilation to exhaust out stale air that carries nasties such as carbon monoxide, moiture laden air, mould spores etc.

However, there are products that allow you to control the ventilation much better than the uncontrolled grill you currently have. we are not allowed to recommedn products here, but do a goole for "controlled ventilation" and you will find a product that will suit your needs.

On the drylining slabs, whats the current wall construction?
