Met a guy recently and he asked me for my number in a very open bar for all to see...I was uncomfortable with this so I discreetly said "add me on fb instead". He said he would that night! Never happened, so I ended up adding him 2 days later, which he accepted. We followed by a couple of messages since.

Question is: What is best for such a situation - stick with the old routine of giving number or rely on FB ?

As now that he's a friend of mine, I feel he can judge me much quicker for who I am going by my photos, (not that I've naked photos up but you know just who I am) whereas for him (most guys I think) he has next to no photos up! So I'm feeling a bit... uncomfortable that he's gone through mine... and cause there has been little contact since adding over a week ago?

Could be making a biggy out of nothing but just wanted advice please.

Customise your privacy settings for what you don't want him to see.

What I would do (which is what I did with my now fiancé) is if you're on fb chat give him your mobile number, I was running out the door one day as I was chatting to him and basically said "Gotta go, here's my number if you ever wanna hang out" and he text me about 5 minutes later :)

To be honest, myself id prefer to get a girls number. That way I could ring and arrange something or text and I feel it's a little bit more personal. Have you asked him out on Facebook or vice versa?

I agree with Insurgent, I did pretty much that with my ex, we'd been chatting on facebook and I mailed him my number saying give me a bell if you wanna hang out outside of cyber space. He texted me his number few minutes later.

I prefer to go the 'old' way, giving your mobile number. It feels more real or something! I dont think its a big deal that he is on your facebook, but ya just block him from certain areas of your profile if you dont want him looking.

There's no "could" about this. This is the original case of "mount out of mole hill". Let me put that in "Feminese". If you're so concerned about how you look that you would "INSIST" he "add me on facebook instead", well my primordial reaction is that a guy came onto you and instead of the oh-so-simple response of giving him your number, you elected to bother with facebook, which is a dealbreaker for me.

But that's not really your question. Your real question is I attempted to be clever with this guy, while assuming that he was stupid, and noe he's going to see ALL my pictures instead of JUST the ones I want him to see!"

The solution, in future stop being a moron. If you're so horrible to look at that you're afraid to give a guy your facebook address to any fool, then you clearly need to screen what these "tomfools" see.

And if you're getting attention from "tomfools" based on horrible pictures, then you've obviously posted the wrong pictures.

I'd go with the number because there's less drama. If the other person uses your number, all well and good. If they don't make contact or things don't work out, again it's simple. With Facebook it becomes more complicated. Aside from the looking at photos etc.,you're into the whole issue of defriending. So I just say-give them your number and see what happens from there.
