who would ye recommend to do a car remap in cork. roughly how much are they aswell. do they have a rolling road to check them before and after. Its for my friend who has a ford fiesta 1.4 tdci 2005. he just wants a bit more power but cant buy a bigger car because he would get robbed by the insurance company since ha has only 2 years no claims. he says the car is 70bhp and was wondering what a remap would bring it up too -90?

Is it really worth it for 20bhp in a little fiesta? He'll be lucky to get 100bhp after the remap, and more than likely pull the shite out of the gearbox.

Personally I would rather wait a year for the 3rd year no cliams and just get something else.

Has he actually got quotes on something a bit bigger? Or just assuming he would get robbed for insurance.

i think he said it would be an extra €750 on insurance to go from that to say an audi a4 1.9tdi or similar. id asy the main reason is that he plans to stick with the car for a bit and just wants a bit more power for the small price of a remap.

According to chippedire.com you'll gain 20hp to bring it up to 88

20 Bhp isn't going to ruin the gearbox. OP has a PM from me with a recommendation in the Cork area.

Fair enough, a 33% increace on what is a small car sounds like a lot to me, but i'm no expert. I personally wouldn't be bothered if I was going to end up with 88bhp but sure each to their own!

When you don't have much bhp to start with every bit helps.
When I bought my Cordoba in '08 I drove the basic 70bhp tdi and then drove the sport 80bhp. There was a noticeable difference.
