As subject title says, I have played in two qualifying singles competitions in my home club this year so far. Are they any implications for my handicap? I have heard some friends saying 3 competitions are needed for your handicap? It doesn't look like I'll have an opportunity to play a singles before end of year.

No implications unless you want to play for your club in Inter-Club competitions next year and even then it's likely you need 4 qualifying competitions on your record but not necessarily from your home club.

There could (hopefully) be a situation where you need to play 3 qualifying competitions at your home club in order to keep your handicap active but this condition is not (yet?) in place and it depends on GUI voting to introduce it (or not) at AGM.

I am looking at the possibility of moving clubs, so I would obviously be able to move my handicap to my new club on the basis of your information. Thank you very much for the prompt reply.

Voted down at 2011 GUI AGM, as far as I know, 3 against 1 for (Leinster)

I just saw before that Tramore brought it forward and that Leinster supported it. I can now see that it was defeated in munster and not supported in Connaught and Ulster either.

The AGM was held last February so I'd presume the next year it will be the same? The regional meetings took place last month. Do these motions go forward for any further discussion at the AGM or are they doomed if they don't all pass at the provincial stage?

Yea that's how it works, it has to be passed at provincial level to go forward to national congress. Each province has 5 votes except Connaught who has only 4, so for example if a motion is carried in Munster and Connaught and defeated in Leinster and Ulster then it doesn't go forward, and that happens quite often!.
