    Male or female?

To folks my generation, gay = male, lesbian = female. understand that it's not the same for younger people though.

    Really dont understand your question.
All doctors treat all patients equally ,they have to,regardless of sexuality.
If you have to talk to your doctor about anything ,take it that he/she will have heard it before ,so relax

I am relaxed and no issues talking to my doctor. Was just wondering were there any gay doctors practicing in the area. Sometimes its easier to discuss certain issues with someone of the same sexual orientation. Not suggesting for a moment that doctors treat one differently depending on sexuality.

Whilst I'm sure there are a fair few LGBT doctors practising in Galway, at the risk of alienating patients less comfortable with that sort of thing I would imagine all of them would keep it to themselves. It isn't particularly professional to advertise yourself as a 'gay doctor', because as other posters have said all doctors would be thought of as being gay friendly, regardless of their orientation. There isn't a problem you have that any decent physician won't have seen before. Don't worry about it.

There definitely are a few gay doctors in the hospital that I know of, and a huge number of gay medical students in the University, but I am unaware of any gay GPs if that is what you are looking for

I`ve asked a gay friend, now based in Knocknacarra and his Gp, <snip> who is a bisexual, and he has been very understanding and approachable with sensitive issues, hope this helps.Naturally if you are not living near his practice this may not be so practicable, but as I understand he has a good rep. in the scene there.
