Hey everyone, a really good friend of mine is spending Christmas alone this year due to unseen events and I was thinking of sending her a little gift bag filled with goodies to open either Christmas Eve or the day of.. I will be seeing her next weekend I believe and can hand it to her in person. All my ideas at the moment are like individual packs of hot chocolate, some Christmassy nail polish, little airplane bottles of Baileys (do they even have those?! never seen them) and vodka or something.. Any ideas? I feel so bad she is alone, I've spend Christmases away from my family and that was pretty crappy but never one alone!

    hi chickenbutt,

if i were you i would make up a gift basket of lovely things to entertain her on christmas day such as dvds, a good book maybe a cd, some chocs or sweets so she can snuggle up on the couch with a dvd. also theres nothin like a nice dressing gown and slippers so she can lounge around on the day. does she like puzzle books or jigsaws??

btw you sound like a thoughtful friend:)

I would agree with tittle mouse, I think stuff to entertain her on the day would be good. Depending what she's into, you could get a couple of DVDs or books that she'd like, so she will have something to take her mind off being alone if she's upset about it.

Alcohol miniatures are easy enough to find, try any well-stocked off-licence and you should find them (I use them as fallback work Kris Kindle presents!).

I'd say throw in something cosy like a dressing gown or pjs, slippers or slipper socks.

If she's into makeup etc., maybe get some of those miniatures you see for travelling (in spite of the time of year, most big branches of Boots etc will have some), a lot of luxury-ish brands like Charles Worthington or Toni & Guy do them year-round. You could pick up a few of those, she may even find her new favourite product! You can get things like manicure and pedicure sets fairly cheaply, or single sachets of face masks, or fancy nail files.

If she drinks tea or coffee, a pack of Earl Grey teabags or a good brand of coffee might be nice, and if you're putting in hot chocolate, don't forget to put in some marshmallows as well :p Maybe even a nice mug.

Sounds like a great idea :) Hope your friend gets through Christmas OK.

Ah! Such great ideas! Thank you! Ok, so I'm off tomorrow to find the little goodies and put it all together. So far I'm thinking: a Christmas movie on DVD, a holiday themed mug with packets of hot chocolate and marshmallows, a couple airplane bottles of booze, a facial mask thingy, and a little manicure set with polish... I will probably spot something else that would go well with it all! Thanks for the help! :)
