I recently got an O2 Visa Card.

Works on all betting sites and can be withdrawn onto aswell.

Not sure if Mastercard allows you to withdraw.

Card can be used at ATM's. No Bank Account needed. They give you a PIN number.

    Advantages for me.

    1. Keeps my bankroll for poker/punting seperate from current account
    2. Banks don't take too kindly to DD's from gambling sites (Oh the hypocrisy)

So how does the 02 card work? Can you transfer money from your bank account on to it? And if looking for a mortgage would a bank not ask why every week i transfer €20 to my O2 card which i would be using for betting?

What is the best way to use Paddy Power online without having any record of it on your bank account? I stopped using online betting in May as i will need a mortgage in a year or 2. Was only betting €20 a week but dont want to take any chances

You can lodge money on the card at O2 shops or at any Payzone outlet. They charge a small fee for this.

Best way to use PP online is to deposit & withdraw cash from the account at the actual shop.

But sure if im going to the bookies to lodge money i may as well just place my bets while there. Its unfair that a €20 a week bet goes against you for getting a mortgage but you could be spending €100 a week on smokes and its not a problem

The idea is that you can make your bets on your terms 24/7.

Applied for a small loan last year for my golf membership only for my bank manager to bring up my DD's to gambling sites.

Never even met the woman in my life and she was using this as a reason to not give me the loan.

    I let her have it.

These institutions gambled the whole country away and here was this ugly pencil pusher giving advice on my personal finances.

Can i ask what sort of amounts you were depositing on to gambling sites? I was only a €20 a week man. And only for about 2 years. Surely that wont come back to haunt me?

I would have been betting big enough alright. But it was within my budget at the time. Margins were small anyway. Overall 2009 I lost small, 2010 I won small.

It was a bit of a wake up call. Like you I hope to be getting a mortgage in the next few years so this was a bit of a surprise.

I never thought banks could would do this! Kind of scares me now using my laser! If I start to use paypal or prepaid mastercard for deposits but use my laser for withdrawals into my current account do you think they could ping me in the future for using gambling sites??
