Honda Civic 00 1.5 vtec ils temperature problem

    I have recently purchased this car and after driving it for a while the needle on the temperature guage dropped to cold. It went back to the correct operating teperature while in traffic but went back to cold while moving again. It now reads cold most of the time and rarely rises in temperature. the car seems to be driving perfect and the coolant level is not dropping. Any ideas?
