I see if you sign up for Park by Text you there will be no price increase for parking at train stations.

I signed up today. There is an option to prepay your parking on the website. If you do this does this eliminate the need to send a text? there is a cost associated with sending a text as far as I know so this would seem the cheapest option.

I'd like to know this too, as I just prepaid for 1 day and the Account Statement shows 2 EUR has been deducted but now I am not sure if I have to send a text as well? their website really sucks... just sent them an email asking them to clarify but no response so far :-((

    Reply from Park by Text:

If you create a parking pass online – there is no need to text also. You can confirm that your transaction has been successful by viewing your account statement online. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your interest in parkbytext. Kind Regards, Amanda

So all you need to do is go online and you can save the sms charge.

Thanks for posting that tubbs, I emailed also but didnt get a reply at all.

I see the below on their website which means there are a few initial set up charges (they text you to confirm your mobile no and you have to text them back etc). & some convience charges as well as charges for texts and phone calls. I use the train car park once a week so I'll just pay the €3, couldnt be bothered with all that!!.

Doesnt this also mean that Irish Rails claim that if you use park by text it will only cost you €2 is untrue...?

PARK BY TEXT WEBSITE FAQ'S UNDER 'HOW MUCH DOES IT COST'.
here is a maintenance fee of 50c per month per User for credit & debit card web accounts.

    • Standard network charges apply for all texts. parkbytext may apply an additional SMS service fee.
    • A convenience charge will apply per parking session. These charges vary based on location. Please see signage at the location for a list of convenience charges.

    • SMS reminders sent to the account holder are charged at 20c per message received.

    • Calls to 0818 444 999 are charged at your service provider's national call rate.

    thanks Tubbs, appreciate it.

Firedance. I bought a ticket this morning as I never got a reply from them.
This morning I rang ncps (the number that is stated on the parking meters). They could not help, only referred me to this girl Amanda at head office. Apparently head office does not work on Sunday. After 3 calls with ncps I got a very very short email back from Amanda (only at 6.30pm this evening) stating that their IT dept will adjust my acct balance but do you think she clarified the issue or rang me back as requested? Hell no!
I asked for a call back but only ncps was ringing me back. Headoffice (Amanda) never did.

Parkbytext's customer service sucks big time and their website is crap!

Hassle free and convenient? yeah right!!!!!!

There is problem with Parking Tag sms service.

The option to opt out from sms reminders which cost 20c per text is not working.

Sent email to support - their option is to call their number instead of text???

Ask for refund for all sms which was sent after i unsubscribed from option - still waiting for reply...

    so be aware!

Make a complaint to RegTel as when you sent your unsub or stop text it should unsubscribe you immediately.

I don't think you understood what pavelpro said - there is no subscription service to opt out of.

If you use ParkingTag and park by SMS, it automatically texts you a reminder when your parking is about to expire. This reminder costs 20c. If you don't want to receive it, you can park by IVR/phone instead. There is no option to park by SMS and not receive the reminder.

Not quite agree with you Mark. When registering the phone number you have a choice to either receive or not reminders.

Below is the picture of my settings at that moment, and i still receiving them.
Customer care seems to be no in a hurry to answer on my email.

    Update:

Support did change something, add a note

Now you have a choice without a choice... whatever you choose you will be still receiving those SMS agrrrr :(
