Science class for 10-13 year olds

Hi,

I'm teaching in South Korea at the moment and I've been asked to do a "magic science class".

It's gonna be a module that will run for 4-5 weeks and it will be hour long class. I've been looking through google for some ideas and I'm coming up with nothing as the school doesn't have an actual lab so I need something that is completely safe for kids but is fun too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might try the play doh electronics. As it's really safe and impressive.

I've seen an example which is a mimic of jaundice.
A yellow dye is in the organic layer of a biphasic solution
Shine UV light on it, a double bond isomerises and now the dye is in the water layer.
Simple and dramatic!

I saw it in a quartz model of a baby - might be a bit expensive!
