aarite...01 mondeo, diesel. just passed nct after failing due to leaking power steering. had the leak sorted and all was well. two weeks later and there is a loud whine when turning the steering wheel, really bad when at full lock. p/s fluid is topped up but the leak seems to be back. Any ideas?

Where is the leek coming from? is it the two pipes going into the steering rack?

did you try bleeding the steering by turning lock to lock continuously for a minute or so.

didnt get a chance to give it a proper look cos it was dark going to work and when i got home. just noticed a load of fluid sitting on top of a puddle under the front of the car.

have tried going lock to lock for a good 5 mins...no joy.

The pump itself could be gone now if its been run without fluid a few times due to the leak.

the fluid was low before, at about 10%, but never empty. my guess is that something is blocking the fluid from getting to the steering?
