Joining a gun club

    Does anyone have any advice on joining a gun club. I moved to galway last year and I'm mad to get out shooting somewhere. Don't know anyone in a club nearby.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    You'll need to get to know someone in the club. Most gun clubs require you to be proposed and seconded at a meeting before you can be accepted as a member

    Look up the NARGC web site and it'll be on that (just the nargc ones mind). Also ask locally if there's a gun club and contact it's sectery or chairman for joining info

    Do you have to live within a certain distance of the club?

    If anyone has any info on gun clubs in the area that would be great.

    As was said by Doyle61 you will get all the details of your Local Gun Club from NARGC if any and I would say there is a strong Gun Club in th area take it from there is this your first Gun

    Ye I will try to get in contact with them this week. Hopefully there open to new members. its normally a closed shop.

    It's my first gun. I'm originally from meath. More of a dog man before, used to go hunting with a friend of mine a good bit. He had a gun but no dog. I Have a nice 9 month old springer bitch and I like to join a club and get out shooting with her. Was moving about quite a bit with my last job so never got the chance.

    There are a lot of clubs around you. Athenry/Derrydonnell, Castlegar, Barna/Bushypark, Oughterard, Loughrea(i think) and Bullan just to name a few. Ask your local fire arms dealer he will point you in the right direction.

    Cheers boiled egg. Looking into getting some phone numbers at the moment. Hopefully I'll have some luck with it. Won't have a gun untill the summer anyway. Gonna ask some farmers for permissions at the weekend. I'm trying to join a club now to see if I could get wings/cold game and for some advice on the dog and buying a gun.

    :confused:Does anyone know where I could get some wings/cold game in the meantime to keep the pups training moving on:confused:
